    What's the story

IIT Roorkee, which conducted the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced examination this year, declared the results of the same on Friday.

Notably, 38,705 candidates cleared the cut-off of the exam this year - more than twice that of 2018 (18,138).

Qualified candidates will now have to go for the counseling process and lock seats in desired colleges.

Here are the counseling and registration details.

    Details

JoSAA will be holding common counseling process for candidates

As the results of both JEE Main and Advanced 2019 are out, the counseling will commence now.

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will be holding common counseling for successful candidates.

JoSAA was established by the Ministry of Human Resources Development in 2018 to "manage and regulate seat allocation for admissions " at a number of colleges across India, including IITs and NITs.

    Registration

Registration process expected to begin next week

Reportedly, the registration process for counseling and seat allotment will begin in the upcoming week. The exact date is not yet announced.

All the eligible candidates can register by filling up their basic details on JoSAA's official website, josaa.nic.in.

Later, the candidates need to select their preferred colleges and courses/branches, which will be mentioned in the list provided along with the registration form.

    Allotment List

JoSAA to release allotment lists later; 7 such lists expected

Once the registration process and choice-filling are complete, JoSAA will release the first allotment list.

Subsequently, allotment letters will be issued to the respective candidates. In order to accept it, one has to pay "seat acceptance fee" via the e-challan issued along with the allotment letter.

As many as seven allotment lists in total are expected to be released by JoSAA.

    Confirmation

Seats to be confirmed after document verification and fee payment

Further, the candidates will have to carry their original documents for document verification at the assigned reporting centers.

Apart from this, candidates will also be required to pay the admission fee for final confirmation of the allotted colleges and courses.

As per JEE Advanced 2019 official brochure, the tentative dates for the seat allocation process will be scheduled from June 19 to July 15.

    Information

JEE Advanced 2019 cut-off decreased, qualified candidates increased

JEE Advanced results saw a dip in the cut-off this year. The cut-off for the general category has decreased from 35% in 2018 to 25% in 2019. This has led to an increase in the number of qualified candidates in the examination. .
