Jewar airport to open in November-December, not October
The much-anticipated Noida International Airport (NIA) at Jewar won't open by the end of October as initially targeted.
Instead, the launch is now expected by November-end or early December 2025, mainly because some security clearances and ministry approvals are still pending.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently reviewed the work at the site and directed the concessionaire to complete the job as soon as possible.
NIA waiting for aerodrome license
NIA got a key security nod from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security in September, and now it's just waiting for its aerodrome license from aviation authorities.
Flight schedules are being lined up so things can take off soon after opening.
The first phase covers 3,300 acres and is built to handle up to 12 million passengers a year.
Airport will eventually serve nearly 300 million passengers annually
At launch, NIA will run with one runway supporting about 150 flights daily; a second runway will come once yearly passenger numbers cross 10 million.
Eventually, the airport aims to cover nearly 12,000 acres with five runways—serving nearly 300 million passengers per year.
For Uttar Pradesh, this means more jobs, better travel options, and a serious boost for local growth.
