Karnataka HC upholds ₹9,000 maintenance and affirms women's visitation rights

Big news from Karnataka High Court: women do not need their husband's or in-laws' permission to visit their parents.
This came as the court upheld an order for a man to pay ₹9,000 a month in maintenance to his wife and minor daughter, even though he tried to get it reduced.
Karnataka HC rejects husband's duty claims
Justice Dr. Challakere Suma Latha made it clear that marriage is not about controlling your partner's choices or freedom.
Women have full say over their personal decisions and are not required to do household chores or care for in-laws just because they are married.
The court also shut down the husband's claims about his wife avoiding domestic duties, saying women should not be forced into these roles.
