Karnataka unveils draft student mobile policy focusing on mental health
Karnataka has unveiled a draft policy to help students break free from mobile phone overuse, with a big focus on mental health and online safety.
Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao says the plan is all about tackling anxiety and social isolation linked to too much screen time.
The policy, developed with NIMHANS, also aims to build students' emotional strength and digital well-being.
Karnataka schools may limit screen time
Schools may soon limit recreational screen time to just one hour a day.
There will be Digital Wellness Committees running awareness drives, plus new lessons on cyber safety and digital literacy.
Teachers will get trained to spot signs of digital distress, parents will be encouraged to help manage screen time at home, and support services like Tele-MANAS will be available if students need extra help.
