Karnataka's railway stations to get a makeover: Find out how
Big news for Karnataka's train travelers—₹2,110 crore has been set aside to revamp 61 railway stations across the state.
The South Western Railway zone's budget is now up to ₹7,748 crore for 2026-27, a massive leap from the earlier average of just ₹835 crore.
Five stations have already been revamped
Projects worth nearly ₹53,000 crore are under execution in Karnataka—think new tracks, electrification, and smoother commutes.
Five stations have already had a makeover (like Dharwad and Bagalkot), while more are in line next.
Electrification covers nearly 97% of rail network
Since 2014, about 1,750km of new railway lines have been added and electrification now covers nearly 97% of Karnataka's rail network.
Plus, over 700 flyovers and underpasses have popped up.
With more Vande Bharat trains running and big plans like the Bengaluru-Chennai bullet train on the horizon, rail travel in Karnataka is getting faster and way more convenient.
