Karur stampede probe: SC panel adds 2 IG rank officers

After the tragic stampede at a Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) meeting in Karur on September 27, 2025, the Supreme Court's investigation panel has added two Inspector-General rank officers—Sumit Saran and Sonal V Mishra—to help get to the bottom of what happened.
The incident sadly took 41 lives.

TVK has transferred ₹20 lakh as financial aid

Saran (from BSF) and Mishra (from CRPF HQ) were chosen as Tamil Nadu cadre IPS officers and natives of the state, joining former Justice Ajay Rastogi's team.
Meanwhile, TVK has stepped in to support victims' families by transferring ₹20 lakh as financial aid on October 18.
Party leader Vijay shared his condolences and promised ongoing support for those affected.
