India
Kerala's Excise Department just cracked down on a big MDMA smuggling ring moving drugs from Delhi.
Four people were arrested, including an 18-year-old woman and two persons caught at a luxury hotel in Kochi with 49.3gm of MDMA.
In total, officers seized 279.3gm of MDMA and some hashish oil.
Varun Dev caught with hidden drugs
The investigation led officers to Varun Dev, a wholesale dealer who was caught with more drugs hidden in his car, plus cash and multiple phones.
The gang was reportedly recruiting young women to move the drugs.
As Joint Excise Commissioner S Vinod Kumar put it, if convicted in this commercial-quantity case, the minimum sentence is 10 years and can go up to 20 years under the NDPS Act.
