K.H. Muniyappa reports 17 student deaths in Karnataka residential schools
17 students lost their lives in Karnataka's government-run residential schools over the last three years, including four suicides.
Social Welfare Minister K.H. Muniyappa shared these numbers in the Legislative Council, highlighting concerns about student safety at KRIES-managed institutions.
Students' accidental deaths highest in Kolar
Out of the 17 deaths, nine were accidents, like electrocutions, drownings at Murudeshwar Beach, a canal drowning, and a fatal fall near a hostel. The highest number of accidental deaths was reported in Kolar district.
Four students died due to medical reasons, including cardiac arrest and a heart attack in Belagavi and a heart attack in Mandya.
Suicides occurred across Tumakuru, Dakshina Kannada, Chikkamagaluru, and Kalaburagi districts.
