Kolkata's early winter chill: Minimum temperature dips to 17degC

Kolkata is getting an early taste of winter, with temperatures dipping to 17°C—over 3 degrees cooler than usual for November.
The Alipore Meteorological Department says this cold snap will last a couple more days.
Since early November, the city's minimum temperatures have dropped below 20°C.

Foggy patches expected in the morning

It's not just Kolkata—other parts of West Bengal are feeling the freeze too. Birbhum hit a low of 14°C and Darjeeling dropped to just 8°C.
Even though it's cold, dry weather is expected thanks to northerly winds, and there's no rain in the forecast despite a cyclonic system nearby.
If you're heading out in the morning, watch out for foggy patches that could make things a bit hazy around town.
