Ladakh talks with MHA end without breakthrough
Talks between the government's High-Powered Committee and leaders from Ladakh ended without a deal this week.
This was their first meeting since last year's deadly clashes in Leh, and hopes were high for progress.
But after hours of discussion, no agreement was reached.
Leaders express dissatisfaction over Ladakh's future rights and identity
Ladakhi groups are asking for statehood, stronger protections for land and jobs, inclusion in the Sixth Schedule, and the release of activist Sonam Wangchuk.
The government offered some safeguards but didn't meet these core demands.
Asgar Karbalai called the outcome "not satisfactory," while leaders like Cherring Dorjay Lakruk said the talks remained inconclusive and he was hopeful the MHA would call another meeting in the next 15-20 days.
With talks stuck, leaders expressed dissatisfaction over Ladakh's future rights and identity.
