LPG crisis: Restaurants on brink of shutdown
India
Thanks to the ongoing conflict in Iran, India is facing a major liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) shortage: bad news for restaurants that rely on this fuel to keep their kitchens running.
With shipping routes disrupted and major energy suppliers such as Qatar halting some LNG production, the National Restaurant Association of India says many eateries could be forced to shut their doors if things don't improve soon.
Government intervention and alternative solutions
To tackle the crisis, the government has set up a special committee and some restaurants are trying out induction stoves or other cost-cutting tricks.
Still, places in cities like Bengaluru are struggling to keep up, and there's growing pressure for quick action so your favorite spots don't have to close down.
