LPG cylinder blast in Chennai kills 2 kids, 4 others
A sudden LPG cylinder explosion in Navalur, near Chennai, turned tragic on Sunday: two young children lost their lives and four others were hurt.
The blast hit a home on Chamundeswarar Nagar's Second Street, partially collapsing the house and damaging two neighbors' places as well.
Neighbors helped rescue victims, alerted emergency services
The victims were identified as Theeran (1.5 years) and Krishika (four), who sadly didn't survive.
Their parents Sanjay (31) and Sonia (26), Sonia's mother Chitra (46), and a seven-year-old neighbor Pradeep were seriously injured; doctors said some injured suffered burns while others were hurt by falling debris.
Neighbors rushed to help pull victims out and alert emergency services. Firefighters and police arrived shortly after; firefighters cleared debris and helped shift the injured to hospitals.
Probe underway; area sealed for safety checks
Early investigation points to a possible gas leak from the household LPG cylinder.
Police are checking for leaks or mishandling, while engineers assess if nearby homes are safe.
The area is currently sealed off for safety checks.
