Maharashtra audit reveals 4 unsafe bridges
After a tragic bridge collapse in Pune that killed four and injured over 50, Maharashtra checked all its PWD bridges.
Out of more than 16,000, four were found to be in "extremely dangerous" shape—two in Panvel, one each in Dhule and Amravati.
The collapsed Pune bridge was already marked unsafe but still used daily.
Cities asked to check their own bridges and buildings
The state is now asking every city to check their own bridges and buildings, especially those near tourist spots or religious sites.
Police have blocked off the risky bridges with barricades and caution signs.
Meanwhile, a committee is looking into why repairs for the Pune bridge took so long; their findings are expected soon.
It's a wake-up call on public safety—and a reminder to pay attention to the places we cross every day.
