Maharashtra: ₹5.4cr gold heist on running train
India
A jeweler and his daughter had gold worth ₹5.4 crore stolen from their bags while they slept on the Siddheshwar Express in Maharashtra.
The thieves made off with 4.7kg of gold ornaments, including a nose ring, all packed in a trolley bag, and the victims only realized what happened after waking up on the train.
They then got off at Kalyan station to file a complaint.
Police suspect an inside job
Police think the thieves knew exactly what was in those bags and are now checking CCTV from stations between Solapur and Kalyan to track them down.
The investigation is ongoing, with hopes to recover the stolen jewelry and catch whoever pulled off this bold train heist.
