Maharashtra woman marries boyfriend's corpse after family kills him
In Nanded, Maharashtra, a 21-year-old woman named Aanchal Mamidwar married her boyfriend Saksham Tate's corpse after he was murdered by her own family for their inter-caste relationship.
On November 27, 2024, Aanchal's father and brothers shot and bludgeoned Tate to death after months of threats, despite knowing about the couple's three-year relationship.

Police have arrested five family members and a minor on murder and rioting charges under the SC/ST Act.
At Tate's funeral, Aanchal symbolically married him by applying turmeric to his body and vermillion to her forehead.
She declared herself his wife and demanded strict punishment for her family, saying their love would last beyond his death.
The case is being investigated as an honor killing.
