Mahua Moitra moves Supreme Court over Krishnanagar circuit house eviction
India
Mahua Moitra, a Trinamool Congress MP, has taken her complaint to the Supreme Court after being forced out of a circuit house in Krishnanagar, West Bengal, on August 14.
She claims district officials broke a high court order despite the high court already having passed a protective order.
Moitra says she was made to leave late at night despite having a booking, and that a crowd gathered outside chanting "Jai Shri Ram."
Afterward, she wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla for help and insisted she had every right to be there as an elected representative.
Moitra said circuit house unsafe
Moitra also pointed out how unsafe the circuit house felt, especially since it was near senior officials' homes.
