Manimahesh Yatra halted in Chamba until August 25 after damage
The popular Manimahesh Yatra trek in Himachal Pradesh's Chamba district is on hold until August 25 because of heavy rainfall and damage to the section of the pilgrimage route near Tos ka Goth.
Officials say the section of the pilgrimage route near Tos ka Goth got damaged, so repairs are happening now and people are being asked to stay away for their own safety.
Manimahesh Yatra capped at 5,000 daily
This 14-kilometer pilgrimage takes devotees up to the sacred Manimahesh Lake, with the journey usually wrapping up on September 19 (Radhashtami).
After last year's flash floods, new rules mean you have to register online and only 5,000 people can go each day.
The weather has caused wider chaos too: 125 roads are blocked, water supplies are hit, and a complete ban has been imposed on the movement of heavy vehicles.
Local teams are keeping a close eye on things as they work to get everything back on track.
