More than 37,000 Indian workers died abroad in 5 years
India
In the last five years, more than 37,000 Indian workers have died overseas; over 20 every single day.
Most of these tragic losses happened in Gulf countries like the UAE and Saudi Arabia, which together made up nearly two-thirds of all cases.
Indian missions received over 80,000 complaints
Alongside these deaths, Indian missions received over 80,000 complaints from workers facing issues like unpaid wages, withheld passports, and blocked exit visas, mostly in the Gulf region.
To help out, the government has been signing labor protection agreements and working closely with local authorities to resolve problems and support Indian workers abroad.
