MP schoolboy's suicide attempt after principal's threat sparks outrage
A 13-year-old national-level skating player from Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, tried to take his own life by jumping from his school's third floor after being reprimanded for recording and sharing a classroom video—breaking the school's strict no-phone rule.
CCTV showed him apologizing repeatedly to the principal, who allegedly threatened to end his skating career and take away his medals.
The student survived but suffered serious injuries; he's now stable in hospital.
Protests and investigation underway
The incident has triggered protests from student groups demanding action against the principal and teacher, as well as calls to cancel the school's CBSE affiliation.
The student's grandmother said intense mental pressure led to his drastic step.
Authorities have launched an official investigation while police continue their inquiry into what happened.
