Mumbai's 1st heat wave of the year hits us
Mumbai just got hit with its first heat wave of the year, as temperatures soared to 38.9 degrees Celsius, almost six degrees above normal.
Even Colaba and Santacruz felt the heat, clocking in at 36.2 degrees Celsius and 38.9 degrees Celsius.
The IMD has officially declared it a heat wave since these high temperatures have stuck around for two days straight.
Yellow alerts issued for the next 2 days
Yellow alerts are now out for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad issued on March 9 and expected to be in effect for the following two days thanks to dry winds that are keeping sea breezes away, making things feel even hotter and stickier than usual.
Some relief is on the way this weekend with temperatures expected to dip slightly, but be ready: another spike could hit right after March 11.
