Nagpur police arrest cleric Hazrat Maulana in Ayaaz Madare case
Nagpur police have arrested Hazrat Maulana, a cleric, in connection with the case after a 24-year-old woman accused an old classmate Ayaaz Madare of forcing her to convert religions.
The woman, who is married to an Air Force official, said Ayaaz and his associates raped her, blackmailed her with compromising photos and videos, extorted money, and used black magic.
A viral video showed Ayaaz chanting verses while the victim pleaded to be released.
FIR alleges Ayaaz Madare spiked drink
The FIR says that on February 8 last year, Ayaaz allegedly spiked the victim's drink at a hotel.
When she woke up, he had photos and videos he used for blackmail. She reported repeated sexual assaults and claimed he extorted around ₹4 lakh from her.
She also said he forced her to drink a strange liquid while chanting incantations as part of alleged black magic.
Police are still investigating Maulana's role; Ayaaz and another accomplice are already in custody.
