Narendra Modi stopped by Dibrugarh tea garden, praised workers' dedication
India
Prime Minister Narendra Modi stopped by a tea garden in Dibrugarh before his rallies in Assam, calling the state's tea the soul of Assam and praising local workers for their hard work.
He even shared a selfie with them, saying their dedication is a big part of what makes Assam proud.
Assam produces 630-700 million kg tea
Assam produces over half of India's tea, around 630 million to 700 million kilograms each year, so it's no wonder Modi highlighted it while campaigning for the assembly elections on April 9.
He's backing BJP candidates at rallies across the state as the BJP-led alliance aims to keep its hold on power, with results set to be announced on May 4 along with other major states.
