Navi Mumbai airport to start operations in December
Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), just inaugurated by PM Modi this October, is gearing up to welcome its first flyers in December 2025.
Before takeoff, the airport will go through final security checks and testing.
Air India, Akasa Air, and IndiGo are expected to be among the first airlines landing here.
Airport is designed for big crowds
NMIA is designed for big crowds—starting with 20 million passengers a year and aiming for up to 90 million later on.
It's packed with smart tech like AI-powered self-check-in kiosks, biometric gates via DigiYatra, and quick taxiways for faster flights.
Plus, it's eco-friendly with solar power, rainwater harvesting, electric vehicles, and thoughtful touches like tactile flooring and special counters for seniors or differently-abled travelers.
