NIA busts 'white-collar' terror cell behind Red Fort blast
The NIA has uncovered a shocking "white-collar" terror group made up of doctors and professors from Al Falah University, who planned the deadly Red Fort blast on November 10.
A white Hyundai i20 packed with ammonium nitrate exploded near the Red Fort metro station in Delhi, killing 13 people and injuring others.
What investigators found so far
Dr. Umar un Nabi, a medical professional from Kashmir, was identified as the main perpetrator who died in the blast.
Linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and radicalized by Tablighi Jamaat clerics, the group used encrypted Telegram chats to plan their attack.
The NIA seized nearly 3,000kg of explosives from them.
Investigators are still tracking connections to handlers in Pakistan and say this case is raising real concerns about educated individuals getting involved in terrorism—something that also happened in the 2011 Delhi High Court bombing case, which is still under trial.
