Non-Bailable warrant issued against Nitesh Rane
A Mumbai court has issued a non-bailable warrant against Maharashtra Minister and BJP MLA Nitesh Rane after he skipped multiple hearings in a defamation case.
The case was filed by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, who took offense at Rane's 2023 remark calling him a "snake" likely to betray Uddhav Thackeray and join the NCP.
TL;DR
Raut called the comment 'blatantly false'
Raut called the comment "blatantly false" and said it hurt his reputation.
Since Rane kept missing court dates—even after asking to be excused from appearing—the judge rejected his request and escalated the warrant to non-bailable.
The next hearing is set for July 18, when the court will check if Rane finally shows up.
This keeps the spotlight on ongoing legal drama between big political names in Maharashtra.
