Northeast monsoon to pick up in Tamil Nadu from Sunday

Places like Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, and Chengalpattu could see heavy downpours with thunderstorms and lightning beginning Sunday, with the heaviest activity expected on Monday.
Waterlogging, travel delays likely during heavy rain
This rainy stretch might finally help Chennai catch up on its usual November rainfall after a slow start.
But with all this water, there's a good chance of waterlogging and travel hiccups in low-lying spots, which is a common occurrence during heavy rain in Chennai—so keep an eye on weather updates if you're heading out.
