P K Mishra inspects Air India crash site
P K Mishra, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, visited the Air India crash site in Ahmedabad after a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner (AI 171) crashed shortly after takeoff. The tragic accident claimed the lives of 241 of the 242 people on board and 29 others on the ground. Mishra also checked in at a local hospital to meet those injured and got updates from state officials.
Mishra urges strong support for grieving families
Mishra expressed heartfelt condolences, urging strong support for grieving families. The crash caused heavy damage to a medical college campus—five MBBS students were among those lost. Authorities are working to identify victims; so far, 47 have been named through DNA matching and 24 bodies returned to families. Recovery efforts continue as the community tries to cope with this huge loss.
