Patel Nagar residents endure weekly tanker waits amid summer heat
Delhi's Patel Nagar is dealing with a tough water crisis, especially as the summer heat ramps up.
Even though pipelines exist, many homes get little to no regular supply and must wait hours for tankers that show up only once a week.
Areas like Baljit Nagar, Nehru Nagar, Holi Chowk, Gulshan Chowk, and Punjabi Basti are among the worst hit.
Residents demand frequent tanker visits
The lack of water has led to chaos: families scramble to collect enough for basic needs and often end up arguing over limited supplies.
Migrant workers like Pushpa say they're forced to take unpaid leave from work and spend extra money on private water when tankers aren't enough: "We came to a big city like Delhi to earn a living and feed our family. But the water situation is so bad that we often have to take unpaid leave from our jobs just to stand in line and fill our buckets. When the tanker doesn't come, or the water falls short, we are forced to spend our hard-earned money to buy water from private sellers."
Residents are urging authorities for more frequent tanker visits and reliable piped supply as temperatures continue soaring.
