Police link Ishita Yadav's suicide to dowry harassment in Hyderabad

A 26-year-old software engineer, Ishita Yadav, was found dead in her Hyderabad apartment on Wednesday.
Police believe she died by suicide after facing dowry harassment from her husband, Neeraj Bhansal.
The couple met online in 2020 and married just this February before moving to Hyderabad for work.

Ishita's parents say her husband pressured her for more dowry and even asked for money to fund a startup, which left her deeply distressed.
Based on their complaint, police have registered a case and detained Bhansal for questioning.
A postmortem is underway as the case reignites conversations about ongoing dowry issues in India.
