Professor Manindra Agrawal and Nisarga Adhikary clash over Telegram edits
India
A heated debate broke out between IIT Kanpur professor Manindra Agrawal and ethical hacker Nisarga Adhikary after the government temporarily disabled Telegram's message-editing feature to stop fake paper leak claims before the NEET-UG 2026 re-exam.
Adhikary called the move "can't stop paper leaks > ends up blocking telegram," pointing out on X that Telegram users can easily dodge bans using proxies.
Adhikary shares code showing logged edits
Agrawal argued that Telegram was fueling confusion during recent exams, while WhatsApp is less risky because its edit history is visible.
Adhikary pushed back, sharing code to show Telegram also logs edits.
Known for exposing exam security flaws, Adhikary's background added weight to his criticism of the ban.
