Pune records its hottest day of the year
Pune just had its hottest day of the year, with temperatures soaring to 38 degrees Celsius in Koregaon Park and Lohegaon.
Other areas like Chinchwad and NDA weren't far behind, hitting 36 degrees Celsius.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) says it's only going to get hotter, so don't expect relief anytime soon.
Farmers and health risks
It's not just the heat. Humidity is making things feel even stickier thanks to winds from the Bay of Bengal mixing with those from the north.
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for several parts of Maharashtra (including Mumbai and Thane) for March 8-9.
People are being urged to avoid outdoor activities between noon and 3pm and stay hydrated.
Farmers are also on alert as crops like wheat could be at risk if this heat sticks around.
