Punjab-Haryana HC drops rape case against Army officer
India
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has dropped a rape case filed against an Army Captain by Pathankot police back in August 2020.
The woman said he tricked her into a relationship by promising marriage, but the court found there was no proof of force or lies—just a consensual relationship that didn't work out.
Court calls FIR 'abuse of process'
Justice Alok Jain noted that both were aware they weren't married and there was no sign of coercion or false promises.
The court also recognized the Captain's efforts to patch things up, despite personal challenges and threats.
With no crime found, all legal proceedings were officially quashed, calling the FIR an abuse when relationships end over incompatibility.
