Punjab Police identify escort vehicle in DS Hooda's car crash
Retired Lieutenant General DS Hooda's car was hit on the Zirakpur flyover on November 12 by a police escort jeep rushing a VIP toward Ambala.
The jeep reportedly cut in sharply after a short traffic delay, leading to the collision.
What happened next
Hooda, who was the Northern Army Commander during the 2016 surgical strikes, said the move felt deliberate and put his wife in danger, criticizing what he called "arrogance and impunity" from the escort team.
Punjab's top cop apologized to Hooda and his wife, calling the behavior "completely unacceptable."
Two officers have now received show-cause notices, and all districts have been told to brief staff on courteous driving.
CCTV footage confirmed the sequence of events leading to the contact between the vehicles.
