Putin gets a taste of India's veggie side at Rashtrapati Bhavan
To wrap up his two-day India visit, Russian President Vladimir Putin was welcomed with an all-vegetarian state banquet at Rashtrapati Bhavan, hosted by President Droupadi Murmu.
The dinner put the spotlight on India's regional food scene, from South Indian drumstick leaf soup to Zafrani Paneer Rolls.
A menu that traveled across India
The spread kicked off with Murungelai Chaaru and included creative starters like Gucchi Doon Chetin and Vegetable Jhol Momo.
For mains, there were dishes like Palak Methi Mattar Ka Saag and Tandoori Bharwan Aloo, paired with assorted breads—think Lachha Paratha and Missi Roti.
Fresh juices and desserts like Kesar-Pista Kulfi rounded out the meal.
More than just dinner: a diplomatic gesture
The President appreciated President Putin's support and personal commitment to the India-Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership, as noted in an official statement.
The fully vegetarian menu wasn't just about food; it was interpreted as a nod to India's diverse culture and its way of making guests feel welcome through shared traditions.
