Ayodhya mosque construction to begin in 2026: Report
A new mosque is set to start construction in Ayodhya around April 2026, if its updated design is approved by city authorities after submission by December-end.
The Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation (IICF) is behind the project and plans to tweak the design after hearing from the community.
This all follows a Supreme Court order that gave five acres for a mosque, years after Babri Masjid was demolished back in 1992.
Land and funding hurdles slow things down
The project isn't without its challenges—only about four of the five allocated acres are usable, so some parts might need to be built elsewhere.
Money's also tight: building everything will cost around ₹65 crore, but just over ₹3 crore has been raised so far.
IICF is now looking for approval to accept international donations, since local contributions haven't been enough.
