Red Fort blast: Delhi steps up security, investigates explosive use

India

After the tragic blast near Delhi's Red Fort on November 10 that claimed at least 12 lives, police have seriously upgraded security.
The area now has over 600 CCTV cameras with number plate recognition, a request for brighter lighting to remove dark spots, and a patrol minibus using facial recognition tech.
Police presence at the Red Fort police post has doubled, especially with big events like the UNESCO session currently being hosted.

Focus shifts to ammonium nitrate and safety rules

Investigators found that ammonium nitrate—a common fertilizer but also an explosive—was used in the blast.
Now, police are looking into how it's moved and regulated in Delhi.
They're reviewing a 2022 order on its sale to make sure safety rules are tight and loopholes are closed, hoping to prevent anything like this from happening again.
