Rohit Kansal highlights ₹18,907 cr for 26,474km PMGSY roads
India is gearing up to build 26,474km of rural roads with a hefty ₹18,907 crore budget for 2026-27.
This move aims to connect remote villages, including those in tough regions, under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
The allocation was highlighted during a high-level review meeting chaired by Secretary of the Department of Rural Development Rohit Kansal on June 18.
Officials urge quality construction, e-Marg tracking
Officials emphasized the need for solid construction, timely maintenance, and finishing projects without delays.
Special attention is being given to tribal communities that still lack road access.
States were urged to speed up paperwork and tackle any hurdles quickly.
The e-MARG platform will help track progress and keep things transparent.
Representatives pledge completion and village connectivity
Representatives from 12 states, including Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand, shared their action plans and assured that all pending projects will be wrapped up as scheduled.
Their commitment means funds get used well and more villages finally get connected.
