Supreme Court condemns 45-year delay in 1981 double murder trial

The Supreme Court just called out a shocking 45-year delay in a double murder case from 1981, saying it's a "failure of the judicial system."
The trial dragged on for 22 years before reaching a verdict, and the appeal took another 22 years.
Out of six accused, five passed away during this long wait, leaving only one bedridden convict, now in his 70s, in jail during the hearing.
Supreme Court suspends sentence grants bail
Seeing the convict's poor health and lengthy imprisonment, the Supreme Court suspended his sentence and granted him bail.
The court also decided to examine why the case took so long, asking the Jharkhand High Court registrar general for answers and permitting the petitioner to implead the Centre in the above matter.
