Tamil Nadu rejects Kerala's Mullaperiyar plan, defends old dam safety
Tamil Nadu has firmly said no to Kerala's plan for a new Mullaperiyar Dam, sticking by the old one and claiming it's safe with regular upkeep.
This comes right after Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheesan announced he'd talk things over with Tamil Nadu post-budget on June 19, 2026.
Tamil Nadu is set on repairing the over 125-year-old dam and isn't backing down from its stance.

He plans detailed talks with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay after the budget, aiming to address safety concerns alongside water issues.
He also mentioned tackling other interstate matters like travel rules with Karnataka once the budget wraps up.
