Telangana mandates employees reserve 15% salary for parents ₹10,000 cap
Telangana just passed a bill that makes it mandatory for both public and private employees to set aside up to 15% of their salary (with a cap of ₹10,000) every month for their dependent parents.
If elderly parents feel neglected, they can reach out to designated authorities such as the District Collector, which will handle appeals, inquiries, and penalties.
Retired judge heads Senior Citizens Commission
A retired High Court judge will lead the Senior Citizens Commission, handling appeals and making sure the rules are followed.
The amended existing Rules, 2011 also allows authorities to evict neglectful children from their parents' property if needed.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy says this move is about encouraging kids to take real responsibility for their parents' well-being, a step toward better lives for Telangana's seniors.
