Thales taps SFO Technologies to build Rafale jet radar parts in India
French aerospace and defense major Thales just picked Kerala-based SFO Technologies to make key wired parts for the advanced radar system used in Rafale fighter jets.
It's a big win for "Make in India," bringing more of the Rafale's high-tech components into local hands.
What's in the deal?
SFO will supply tough, high-value components that help the Rafale's radar work even in extreme conditions.
This isn't their first team-up—Thales and SFO have worked together before, and this move will boost Indian skills in electronics, microelectronics, and complex systems assembly.
Why does it matter?
This deal shows Thales is serious about supporting India's push for defense self-reliance.
With more Rafales on order—including 26 new jets for the Navy—having Indian companies build critical tech means more skilled jobs, on-time delivery, and a shot at exporting these parts worldwide.
