Tihar Jail fugitive caught in Kolkata after 2 months on the run

India

Mohammad Sohrab, a well-known criminal wanted in more than 30 cases of murder, extortion, and robbery, was finally arrested in Kolkata this week.
He'd escaped from Tihar Jail while on parole back in May 2025, and was found meeting his wife at an IVF clinic when police tracked him down, bringing a long manhunt to a close.

How police finally found Sohrab

Catching Sohrab wasn't easy—he and his wife kept moving around different cities, making it tough for the cops to keep up.
Police teams searched everywhere from Delhi's Shahdara area to Lucknow and even near the India-Nepal border.
According to DCP Aalap Patel, they eventually caught Sohrab posing as a bike taxi rider at a Park Street clinic in Kolkata.
He's now on transit remand so Delhi Police can question him before he heads back to Tihar Jail.
