    Haryana govt to accord varsity status to Motilal Sports School

    The Haryana government has decided to accord university status to Motilal Nehru School of Sports in Rai district. CM Manohar Lal Khattar made the announcement while laying the foundation stone of Deen Bandhu Chhotu RamKushti academy at Kharkhoda in Sonipat district. He asserted the state has emerged as a national and international hub of sports and called it a "leader" in the field.

    "As many as 309 Vyayamshalas have been started in villages which would be further expanded," he said. 525 sports nurseries have also been set up for the students between the age group of 9-14 years. Also, in order to develop conventional sports of Kushti and Kabaddi, state-level competitions carrying prize money of Rs. 1cr in each discipline have been started, the CM mentioned.

    22 of 66 CWG medals, won by athletes from Haryana

    Khattar also lauded the effort put in by Haryana's sportspersons in the recently held Commonwealth Games and said that as many as 22 medals out of the total tally of 66, were won by athletes from Haryana. Haryana Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu was also present.
