UP cop arrested for torching woman's vehicles after rejected advances

India

A sub-inspector in Uttar Pradesh, Sneh Prakash Azad, was arrested for allegedly setting fire to a beauty parlor owner's scooter and her son's motorcycle outside her home in Meerut.
The incident happened after the woman, Ayesha, reportedly refused his sexual advances.
Azad was posted at Baghpat police lines.

What's happening now

After Ayesha filed a complaint, as reported on December 1, police arrested Azad and another person.
Both face charges of assault, abuse, and property damage tied to the alleged coercion and arson.
Azad has been suspended while the investigation continues; police say he and Ayesha had known each other for a long time but had an argument that night.
The case is still being probed as authorities gather more evidence.
