In a shocking incident in Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur district, Ambesh (37) has been arrested for allegedly murdering his parents, Shyam Bahadur (62) and Babita (60). The retired Railway employee and his wife were reportedly killed over a dispute involving their son's Muslim wife. The couple had three daughters and one son. Ambesh was married to a Muslim woman five years ago, against his parents' wishes.

Ambesh's parents had refused to accept his Muslim wife into their home, leading to frequent family disputes. The situation worsened when Ambesh decided to part ways with his wife and sought financial help from his father for alimony of ₹5 lakh. However, Shyam refused to provide the money, triggering a violent confrontation between father and son.

Violent confrontation leads to double murder
During the argument, Ambesh allegedly attacked his mother with a sil batta (grinding stone). When Shyam tried to intervene, he was also assaulted. Both parents succumbed to their injuries. After the crime, Ambesh dismembered their bodies using a saw and dumped them in a river. He then informed his sister Vandana that their parents had left home after an argument and that he was going to look for them. Thereafter, he switched off his phone.

Family reports parents missing, police investigation ensues
On December 13, Vandana filed a missing persons complaint at Zafarabad police station after Ambesh's phone was switched off. The police launched an investigation and arrested Ambesh a week later. Initially, he tried to mislead the authorities but eventually confessed to murdering his parents. The police have recovered one part of Shyam Bahadur's body and the saw used in the crime.
