UP man killed over marriage to stage dancer

In Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, 30-year-old Amit was allegedly beaten to death by his own family after he married Anita, a stage dancer, against their wishes.
The couple had moved to Delhi to escape the family's disapproval but returned home recently.
A fight broke out over their stay, leading Amit's mother, two sisters, and brother to attack him with sticks and rods.

Amit died on the way to hospital

When Anita tried to help Amit during the attack, she was also seriously injured.
Both were rushed to a health center—Amit died on the way while Anita is still being treated in hospital.
Police have registered a murder case based on Anita's complaint and have detained four family members for questioning. The investigation continues.
