Uttar Pradesh extends break for Basic Education Council, recognized institutions
Schools affiliated with the Basic Education Council and recognized institutions in Uttar Pradesh are getting a longer summer break this year:
Thanks to the ongoing heatwave, classes will now start back up on June 25 instead of earlier.
The government says this move is all about keeping students safe and healthy in the extreme weather.
Uttar Pradesh staff return June 22-24
Teachers and staff will be back from June 22-24 to prep for the new school year: think lesson plans, cleaning up classrooms, sorting midday meals, and handing out textbooks.
Plus, schools will celebrate International Yoga Day on June 21 with collective yoga sessions involving teachers and students.
Schools urged to meet 220 days
The government also reminded schools to stick to the Right to Education Act's rule of at least 220 working days each year.
District officials have been asked to plan holidays carefully so students don't miss out, and schools must make sure basics like water and electricity are always available.
