Uttarakhand lets women work night shifts—With safety 1st

Uttarakhand just gave the green light for women to take up night shifts in shops and other businesses.
The new rule, led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's Cabinet, says women can now work between 9pm and 6am—as long as employers provide proper safety measures and get written consent from each woman before scheduling her at night.

More opportunities, more equality

This move is all about opening up more job options for women and making workplaces fairer.
By allowing night shifts, the state hopes to help women access the same opportunities as men, boost their economic independence, and support a more inclusive work environment.
