Vendor Rahul Chaurasia dies after alleged train push over cigarette
India
A 28-year-old vendor, Rahul Chaurasia, lost his life after a youth allegedly pushed him off a moving train near Manouri railway station for refusing to give a cigarette.
The incident happened on April 1 while Chaurasia was selling roasted gram on the Kanpur-Chitrakoot Intercity.
He suffered serious injuries from the fall and later died at a local health center.
Body left unattended amid jurisdiction dispute
Chaurasia's body was left unattended for almost six hours because two police stations argued over who should handle the case.
The delay only ended when Charwa police finally stepped in at 5:15pm hours after being informed.
Authorities say confusion about jurisdiction caused the holdup.
