Viral 'Western Railway' clip spotlights Indian Railways' 1.27cr missing bedrolls
A clip has gone viral on X showing three men in a market casually using what appeared to be Indian Railways bedsheets (could be seen carrying the words "Western Railway") as shawls.
The post claims these sheets were stolen from a train, drawing attention to just how much railway property goes missing.
According to RTI data, over 1.27 crore bedroll items (including 41.13 lakh bedsheets and 46.54 lakh face towels) have disappeared between January 2022 and May 2026, costing Indian Railways more than ₹104.51 crore.
Online users debate theft, shaming, fixes
The video set off a lively discussion online. Some people called for stricter action against theft, while others felt public shaming was harsh or pointed out possible supply chain issues within the railways.
A few even suggested practical fixes like making the "This belongs to the Indian Railways" label bolder to discourage stealing.
